Drivers on State Road 37 should prepare to seek alternate routes and expect delays as work continues for Interstate 69.
In Johnson County, lane closures are expected for northbound State Road 37 Monday and southbound State Road 37 Tuesday near the State Road 144 intersection for the delivery and staging of large bridge beams. Drivers should also be prepared for up to 20-minute stoppages between 9 p.m. and 6 p.m., as cranes will be lifting the structural beams in place for the future State Road 144 bridge, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation news release.
Additionally, the dedicated turn lane from southbound State Road 37 to westbound State Road 144 will be closed during the day on Monday and Tuesday. Drivers will have to use the right through lane, INDOT says.
Southside drivers should expect nighttime lane closures and 20-minute traffic stoppages on Interstate 465 to continue for bridgework near Madison Avenue and the Mooresville Road Bypass. Nighttime lane closures are also needed for median work between Mann Road and State Road 37/Harding Street, according to the release.
Work crews were expected to close one lane of State Road 37 Monday night to repair pavement near Southport and Wicker Roads, INDOT says.
In the coming weeks, drivers should also expect short nighttime I-465 ramp closures at the U.S. 31/East Street interchange, as crews remove overhead light towers, INDOT says.
In Morgan County, drivers should expect I-69 northbound to be reduced to one lane north of State Road 44 Tuesday as crews remove a crane from the Teeters Road Overpass. State Road 44 is also expected to close east of Martinsville Thursday, as crews replace culverts west of Deerfield Boulevard and between Cope and Wampler roads, INDOT says.
