Louis Philip “Phil” Oldham

GREENWOOD, IN.

Louis Philip “Phil” Oldham 83 of Greenwood, IN passed away on Tuesday April 26, 2022, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN. He was born December 12, 1938, in Richland City, Indiana to Louis J. Oldham and Vivian B. (Johnson) Oldham. He married his sweetheart, Carolyn S. (Larimer) Oldham on June 6, 1958.

He was a 1960 graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earning a BS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He enjoyed a long career in the field and worked for several military contractors and medical device manufacturers to name a few. Phil was an accomplished writer as well. As a lifetime fan of Jazz, he helped preserve and bring live Jazz to Indianapolis and was an editor of Indianapolis Jazz Notes and an editor of International Association of Jazz Record Collectors. Phil was a longtime member of Stones Crossing Church in Greenwood.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn S. (Larimer) Oldham of Greenwood, IN, a sister, Karen Oldham Lanigan of Independence, MO, a son David Oldham (Cheryl) of Greenwood, IN, a daughter Mary Beth Hopewell of Greenwood, IN, grandchildren: Erin Kemp of Evansville, IN, Ian Kemp (Chelsey) of Morgantown, IN, Kristen Owsley (Alex) of Lakeside Park KY, Shelby Simmons (Robbie) of Greenfield, IN, Austin Oldham (Janelle) of Greenwood, IN, Orian Oldham (Olivia) of Greenwood, IN, and great grandchildren Keegan, Ian Jr., Avrey, Kiyonna, Keslee, Hannah, Sarah, Selah, Layn, Caroline, Ames, Arlo, and Davie Jo. He was preceded in death by his parent’s Louis J. Oldham of Baltimore, MD and Vivian Johnson Oldham of Independence, MO.

Pastor Scott Luck will conduct a service on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. at Stones Crossing Church, 7000 West Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood, IN 46143. Friends may call Friday, May 6, 2022, from 4PM until 8PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary, and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton Street (US 31) in Franklin, IN, from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
