Softball

Royals dominate Dragons for title

Class 4A No. 1 Roncalli took the next step in defense of its state championship by routing No. 4 New Palestine, 10-0, in a sectional championship game at Franklin Central on Wednesday. Tori Candler hit a pair of home runs for the Royals (29-0), including a two-run walk-off shot in the fifth inning. Keagan Rothrock allowed just one hit while striking out 10.

Roncalli will play a regional game at Avon next Tuesday.

Baseball

Cougars’ semifinal pushed back

Greenwood Christian’s Class A sectional semifinal game at Morristown was rained out on Wednesday. It will be played today at 5 p.m., weather permitting.

Boys golf

Grizzly Cubs edge Royals

Franklin won an 18-hole match play showdown against Roncalli on Wednesday, 11.5 to 9.5. The Grizzly Cubs were paced by Kadin Gibson (3), Luke Bechert (3), Will McGuinness (2.5) and Reid Davidson (2.5).

Christie, Braves roll

Braxton Christie shot a school-record 29, needing only 10 putts in the process, as Indian Creek defeated Mooresville Christian and Brown County at Bluff Creek on Tuesday. The Braves’ team score of 152 was a season low.
