Ivy Tech to host nature hikes

Ivy Tech Columbus biology faculty members are offering nature hikes for anyone interested in learning more about the natural environment, birds and wildflowers.

The nature hikes are scheduled for the first Saturday of every month.

The next hike will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the Driftwood public fishing area, located at 8825 U.S 31 S., Edinburgh. Anyone interested in participating can meet at the first paved parking area at the fishing site.

Ivy Tech Columbus faculty member Dr. Tom Sobat will lead the hike. Hikes are free and open to everyone. You are encouraged to bring your own binoculars. For more information, contact Dr. Tom Sobat at [email protected].

Poker ride set for June 11

A motorcycle ride and poker game to raise funds for teens with mental health issues.

Motorcyclists will make stops along the charity ride at various bars and restaurants to play five card stud and win prizes.

The Ride to Reconcile Poker Run will start at noon on June 11 at 3610 Shelby St. in Indianapolis and will finish off with a barbecue and silent auction.

Cost for pre-registration drivers is $25 per rider and $15 for passengers.

Motorcyclists can email [email protected] to sign up and get a free t-shirt. Registration will also be available the day of the event from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The event is sponsored by First Onsite Property Restoration, and will benefit Ben’s Ranch Foundation and the teens with mental health challenges that the nonprofit organization serves.
