CenterPoint Energy to restart disconnections today

CenterPoint Energy’s extended utility moratorium will expire this weekend, and disconnections due to non-payment will begin again today.

Customers who have a past due balance will receive a phone call and email reminding them the extended grace period is ending, according to a CenterPoint Energy news release.

While customers will be subject to disconnection beginning today the utility will be using a phased approach for disconnections, the company says.

The utility is encouraging customers with past due balances to contact customer service to discuss payment options and resources available to avoid service disruptions. Extended payment arrangements will continue to be offered to customers needing assistance, and if a customer has a delinquent balance, they are encouraged to contact customer service at 1-800-227-1376, according to the company.
