Here’s the latest on I-69 construction in Johnson County

Construction along County Road 144 and State Road 37 will continue this week, and the Indiana Department of Transportation advises drivers to be mindful of the changes construction causes in traffic patterns.

Construction workers are adding temporary pavement on Waverly Park Road, also known as Old State Road 37, south of State Road 144 for a new roundabout. While construction is underway, drivers should look for flaggers and a future traffic shift, according to a weekly update from Indiana Department of Transportation .

Traffic on Smith Valley Road east of State Road 37 has shifted to one lane each way with no turn lanes, as workers construct the Interstate 69 interchange there that’s expected to open next year. The traffic shift will change to the other lane next month when the left turn lane is reopened, INDOT officials say.

In Marion County, work on Mann Road and Thompson Road is expected to close the intersection of the two streets from Thursday evening through early Monday morning, although that could be extended if there’s inclement weather. The new Madison Avenue bridge over Interstate 465 is on track to open either late this week or early next week. As the opening approaches, drivers on Interstate 465 can expect nighttime lane closures and as much as 20 minutes of traffic stoppages and workers remove temporary structures from the bridge project, INDOT officials say.

In Morgan County, an Ohio Street entrance to the Martinsville Kroger and Rural King is now open. Work will continue of sidewalks, driveways and a new north-south access road at the Artesian Square Shopping Center. State Road 44 east of I-69 will close Tuesday during the day to replace two drainage pipes, and drivers are asked to use other roads, INDOT officials say.
