One dead after motorcycle crash on County Line Road

A motorcyclist was pronounced dead Wednesday after he was struck near the intersection of County Line Road and Graham Road in rural Greenwood.

The accident, which occurred at about 10:32 a.m., involved the motorcyclist and a person driving a pick-up truck, according to a Greenwood Police Department news release.

First responders found the motorcyclist unresponsive when they arrived at the scene. He was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police say.

Leading up to the crash, the motorcyclist was heading east on County Line Road and tried to pass another vehicle, which was also traveling east. As the motorcyclist was passing the driver to the left, he crossed into the west-bound lanes, where he was hit by the truck. The truck driver was uninjured, police say.

Police are waiting to notify his family before they release the motorcyclist’s identity.
