Stephen R. McClure, age 77, of Greenwood, passed away at his home on Monday afternoon, July 25, 2022.

Stephen was born on June 19, 1945, in Indianapolis, IN to Harold E. McClure and Phyllis Wright McClure. He was a 1963 Southport High School graduate and a graduate of Ball State University earning a bachelor’s degree in Radio and Television Journalism and earned a master’s degree from Barry University. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of The American Legion. Steve was a Cantor with St. Mark’s Catholic Church, sang in the choir and assisted with readings during mass. Steve was the Past Master of the Millersville Masonic Lodge #126. Steve loved Sports Talk Radio and worked at WRCR Radio in Rushville, IN and WGUL Radio in New Port Richey, FL. He was the former Sports Information Director for Youngstown State University in Ohio, former Sports Information Director at The University of Cincinnati, former Sports Information Director at Barry University in Florida. He also served as the Public Address Announcer for the University of Indianapolis, Franklin College and Whiteland Community High School, Interior Press box announcer for the Indianapolis Colts for 37 years, and an announcer with The Center Grove Sports Network. Steve was passionate about Dodgers Baseball and attended fantasy camps 17 times in Vero Beach, FL. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Sylvia Dennis McClure of Greenwood; daughter, Jennifer Schofill, granddaughter, Erin of New Port Richey, FL; sister Judy Moore, Kissimmee, FL and cousin, Michael W. Smith.

The family will have a memorial gathering on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 4-8PM at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142. A Masonic Service will take place at 7:30 PM. A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 8540 US-31, Indianapolis, IN 46227, on Saturday, August 6, at 11AM. Military Honors will immediately follow.
