WHITELAND, INDIANA
Helen (Stucker) Hamilton, 92, of Whiteland, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Helen was born April 2, 1930 in Franklin, Indiana to the late Oscar J. and Lydia (Lowe) Stucker.
Helen’s most recent job was working for Pleasant Township as the assessor. Prior to that, she worked as a secretary at IU Medical Center for the Director of Surgery. Before working for IU, she aided her husband with his building business and started her work career at the State House doing office and secretary work.
Helen had been married twice and was widowed both marriages. She was a Baptist and had a good, faith-based circle of friends. She used to love to square dance and ballroom dance with her husband; together they travelled all over the Midwest to dance. They were members of the Shriner’s Club and were involved in the Club’s events and goings-on.
Helen used to play euchre often and said that she wanted to try again while living at Greenwood Village South. She enjoyed watching the Pacers and the Colts on TV and loved country and gospel music. She liked to read simple things like magazines, Mayo Clinic educational newsletters, mail, and so on, but was not interested in novels or books. She watched the news every day and found pleasure in game shows like Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune. She would watch movies at times, but said it was difficult to find good ones nowadays; she liked Turner Classics, westerns, and “good” love stories.
Helen loved dogs and used to have Collies; her latest dog was a Boston Terrier. She used to enjoy cooking and baking and loved being outdoors when she could. She treasured tending to her “roses” at home and would garden all the time when she was younger.
Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Lowell Hants, and second husband, Hugh Hamilton.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 1:30pm at Jessen &Keller Funeral Homes ~ Whiteland Chapel with visitation from 11:00am until the funeral hour. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood, Indiana.
