James Lee Young

GREENWOOD

James Lee Young, 66, of Greenwood, met Jesus face to face on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

Jim was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on October 11, 1955 to Gean Harold and Loreta Muriel (Reynolds) Young. For almost 50 years he managed and supervised local KFC restaurants and was general manager at Jonathan Byrd’s Cafeteria. For many years the month of May was spent catering at the Indy 500. Later on in his career he was general manager at the Marriott Residence Inn in Goodyear, Arizona. Before retiring he also was general manager at the Greenwood Holiday Inn.

He was a well loved man whose influence led many to walk with Christ and he stressed the importance that all men were created equally.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Loreta Young.

He is survived by his wife Susan (Towner) Young, son, Andrew (Whitney) Young and his two precious grandsons, Carter James and Eli Benjamin Young. Also surviving are his father Gean (Janice) Young and sister, Holly Weber, brother Chris (Lisa) Young, niece Hope (Chris) Moore, mother-in-law, Anna (Hannoy) Towner and sister-in-law, Karen (Towner) Rosas, and many aunts and uncles and cousins.

You may join his family and friends with visitation on Wednesday, August 24, at Greenwood United Methodist Church, 525 N Madison Ave. in Greenwood from 3pm-7pm with the funeral service immediately following.
