Johnny Mack Reynolds

GREENWOOD, IN.

Johnny Mack Reynolds, 90, of Smith Valley, Greenwood, IN passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022, at The Springs of Mooresville. He was born on February 14, 1932, in Knobel, Arkansas to James E. and Jewel (Overby) Reynolds.

Mack, or as his close friends and family called him “Mackie” was a strong and independent man with a fun-loving nature. On August 4, 1950, in Knobel, Clay County, Arkansas, Mackie married his high school sweetheart, Frances E. Archer. They remained married for almost 61 years, until her passing on June 5, 2011.

They moved to Indianapolis, IN immediately following their wedding and have lived in Indiana their entire lives. They raised three children in their Greenwood home. He attended Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church in Stones Crossing, Greenwood, IN most of his life.

He served in the United States Army from 1952 until being honorably discharged in 1954, spending most of his time in Korea during the Korean War. Mack was proud of his military service and holds a special place in his heart for those who served with him.

Upon returning from the Army, Mack began working at Schwitzer Corporation, where he became their United Steel Workers Association (USWA) representative until they closed in 1981. Mack was hired by USWA as a local union organizer until his retirement in 1985.

His real hobby was fishing, especially with his sons. They enjoyed priceless time together while fishing. He founded the Indianapolis Bass Hawks fishing club in the early 1970’s. His son Tim is still an active member, and current president of the club. He also enjoyed all kinds of pies.

Mack’s family meant everything to him. He is survived by his daughter Donna Hill (Dan) of Mooresville, IN, his son Tim Reynolds (Melanie) of Martinsville, IN, ten grandchildren Michael Hill (Amy) of Kentucky, Ryan Reynolds of Hawaii, Katie Hill of Mooresville, IN, Tara Reynolds Valentine of Indianapolis, IN, Samantha Long (Nate) of Poland, Indiana, Grace Reynolds of Martinsville, IN, Erin Beltz (Kyle) of Martinsville, IN, Gabby Schwartze (Brendon) of Martinsville, IN, Adam Field of Martinsville, IN and Ben Field of Martinsville, IN, fourteen great-grandchildren and number continues to grow Malone, Ashely, Ella, Ollie, Reese, Harlow, Jaxon Mack, Elis, Scarlett, Ryker, Blake, Vivian, Baker and Dakota. He has countless loving nieces and nephews.

Mack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances E. (Archer) Reynolds on June 5, 2011, a son Rickey Mack Reynolds on September 6, 1991, and eight of his siblings Dale Reynolds, Lorena Gibson, Alice Strachan, JE Reynolds, Joseph Reynolds, Bill Reynolds, Reta Young and Delbert Reynolds.

Pastor Zack Scellato will conduct a service on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 6PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 2PM until service time at the mortuary. Burial with military honors by the United States Army Honor Guard will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
