Bob L. “Spank” Griffith, 77, of Argos, IN, passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Spank was born April 9, 1945 in Indianapolis, IN to Oliver “Emmitt” and Thelma “Ruth” (Evans) Griffith of Whiteland, IN.
Spank was raised in Johnson County and farmed in the Whiteland and Greenwood area as a young man. He proudly served in the United States Navy and later resided in Texas, Arizona, Culver, IN and Brown County, IN after he married his wife, Donna (Hayes) Delph Griffith. Together, they owned a tack shop selling horse equipment. Spank had a passion for horses and has worked in every stage of the horse industry through the years, including racing, auctioneering, and contesting. He even lived in every state, except Hawaii and Alaska, working with horses. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a love of people. His friends were his family and he was well known by many for his quick wit, his participation in 4-H, and his deep love for his family.
Spank is survived by his wife, Donna Griffith; his children, Doug Delph, Dennis Delph (deceased), and D. Grant Delph; his grandchildren, Kyle Delph, Jared Delph, and Ziva Delph; several cousins.
Spank was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Emmitt Griffith; his sister, Katie Lou; his brother, David Griffith; his infant daughter, Rene.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 1:00pm at Jessen &Keller Funeral Homes ~ Whiteland Chapel with visitation from 11:00am until the funeral hour. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
