Trojans top Grizzly Cubs

Center Grove’s girls opened the season with a 99-87 victory at Franklin on Saturday morning. Lara Phipps won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 freestyle for the Trojans, who also won the 200 freestyle relay and got individual victories from Mia Prusiecki (diving) and Izzie Ferguson (500 free). Franklin took the other two relays and got first-place efforts from Lili Ratzlaff (200 free), Jenna Miller (50 free), Jaynie Salyers (100 butterfly), Allie Lacy (100 backstroke) and Kathleen Lacy (100 breaststroke).

Lancers drop road contest

Edinburgh suffered a 62-14 loss at Switzerland County on Saturday. Gracie Crawhorn paced the Lancers (3-4) in defeat with five points.

Women’s basketball routs Panthers

Franklin College got first-year coach Jessica Johnson into the win column on Saturday with a 77-54 victory at Principia. Jordan Coon scored 14 points to lead a balanced effort from the Grizzlies (1-1), who also got 13 from Taylor Cooney, 11 from CiCi Bailey and eight from Bayleigh Torrance.
