Lunch for a cause: Jim Rhoades Hog Roast is today

The Jim Rhoades Memorial Hog Roast is a tradition that thousands take part in annually, and those in charge hope they come out again this year to support the Good Cheer Fund and Interchurch Food Pantry.

People will again gather from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the Johnson County fairgrounds for pulled pork, pork chops, sides and much more. People can choose between dining in or taking their meals to go.

There is no set cost for the meal. Rather, organizers ask people to give what they can to the cause. Some people give a couple dollars, while others have donated as much as $1,000. Organizers from the Franklin Rotary Club are expecting another great turnout to fight hunger in the community after raising more than $51,000 last year.

Proceeds from the hog roast are split between the Good Cheer Fund and Interchurch Food Pantry.
