Here’s the latest on I-69 construction on the southside

A Johnson County road project in the Interstate 69 construction zone will cause a detour for drivers starting March 20.

The project to replace Johnson County Bridge No. 136 over Pleasant Run Creek will close Peterman Road to through traffic between Fairview Road and County Line Road. Drivers will be able to use Morgantown Road as an alternate route, according to a construction update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

In Marion County, construction on Interstate 465 will limit access from other roads.

Access to I-465 westbound from both directions of Interstate 65, both directions of U.S. 31 and State Road 37/Harding Street will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. early this week as construction crews shift westbound lanes onto temporary pavement to the north. The work is in preparation for an I-465 eastbound shift later this month. I-465 westbound will be restricted to a single lane starting 8 p.m. Friday between I-65 and Interstate 70. Construction crews will prepare for the changes by paving and strengthening the inside shoulders of I-465, INDOT officials say.

The work will continue from 5 p.m. March 17 to 8 a.m. March 20 as workers prep I-465 for lane expansion in advance of I-69’s completion next year. Unrelated to the project, drivers will encounter a temporary left lane closure on eastbound I-465 from Kentucky Avenue to Mann Road this week as workers install a new traffic camera, INDOT officials say.
