Owen Stanley “Stan” Lewis

FRANKLIN, IN.

Owen Stanley “Stan” Lewis, 71, long time resident of Franklin, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at Community South Hospital on March 20, 2023. Stan was born on August 2, 1951 to Betty (Dickinson) Lewis and Herbert Lewis, Jr.

Stan is survived by his wife of 14 years, Kim (Huntington) Lewis, son Mark (Kelly) Lewis, granddaughter Lily Lewis of Franklin, stepmother Nancy (Dickinson) Lewis of Franklin, sister Carolyn (Lewis) Mathauer of Franklin, stepdaughter Kristen (Jacob) Driver of New Whiteland, stepson Christopher (Amy) Duke of Morgantown, step grandchildren Braidon, Ethan and Emilia, uncle James Dickinson (Bargersville) and numerous cousins. Also his dog and buddy of 13 years, Sissy! Stan is proceeded in death by grandparents Ralph and Bessie Dickinson and Herbert Sr. and Hattie Lewis and several maternal and paternal aunts and uncles.

Stan was owner of Lewis Electric and was an electrician for more than 50 years. He worked in security at Franklin College. Worked in retail at Meijer and Lowes. He also worked in restaurant management for Denny’s Restaurant, Mac’s Family Steakhouse, Long John Silvers and Mr. Steak. Many years ago, he worked at Arvin Industries.

Stan had a strong Christian faith his entire life. He attended Ozark Bible College where he studied psychology and theology. He attended various churches and loved to sing, especially Christian music.

Stan loved taking his dog Sissy for walks in his neighborhood and to swing in the park. He was a “couch coach” for all sports! He enjoyed a good dinner with his wife and vacationing thru her experiences from home. He loved fixing something for his stepmother or sister. He was extremely proud of his son Mark and the business he built. He excitedly watched the dream home his son and daughter-in-law were building on property Stan and his stepmother located. He enjoyed finding Disney trinkets for his granddaughter Lily.

Stan was a frequenter at the Franklin McDonalds with the “Late” morning crowd. He loved auctions, a good bargain and sale items even if not needed. He enjoyed helping anyone that needed something and loved finding it in his “organized” garages.

Stan’s kindness, big heart and quirky sense of humor will be missed beyond measure.

Pastor Don Whetstine will conduct a service on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Sunday March 26, 2023 from 2PM until 6PM at the mortuary and Monday from 10:30 AM until service time. Burial will be at First Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
