Franklin’s Davis named a Junior All-Star

Micah Davis has garnered plenty of attention for his skills on the basketball court. Now, the accolades are starting to follow.

The Franklin guard was one of six players named to the core group on the Indiana Junior All-Star team, which was announced Friday morning. Davis was joined by Jack Benter of Brownstown Central, Flory Bidunga of Kokomo, Kanon Catchings of Brownsburg, Tyler Parrish of Chesterton and K.J. Windham of Ben Davis.

Benter and Catchings are verbally committed to play college basketball at Purdue; the other four are undecided. Davis currently has Division I scholarship offers from Ball State, IUPUI and Purdue Fort Wayne.

A dozen other juniors were chosen for the team, which will play a pair of games in June. The six-player Red group will join Davis and the other five core players for a June 4 contest against the top juniors from Kentucky; the six players in the Blue group will play in the June 7 game against Indiana’s senior All-Stars.

Davis, who led Franklin this season with averages of 17.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists, was also previously selected to take part in the inaugural Futures Games, which will be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on June 10 prior to the annual boys and girls All-Star games between the top seniors from Indiana and Kentucky.
