Grace Assembly of God taking tornado relief donations, organizing cleanup volunteers

Grace Assembly of God is partnering with Convoy of Hope to offer support to those affected by the Whiteland tornado. The church will function as a tornado relief site this week, operating daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The relief shipment from Convoy of Hope has arrived, containing essential supplies such as water, food, shovels, tarps, toilet paper, diapers, baby wipes and formula. Church leaders began organizing and distributing items starting this morning in the church’s south parking lot, located at 6822 S. U.S. 31. Additional volunteers from the community are welcome.

In addition to the distribution of essential items, church leaders are sending teams to assist with debris cleanup in affected neighborhoods. Cleanup efforts began today and will focus on areas deemed safe and cleared for volunteers. Those who would like to participate in this effort should bring gloves, safety glasses and hard-soled shoes. Trained and experienced leaders will guide the teams.

For those who would like to donate items, the most needed items include:

  • Food
  • Rakes/shovels
  • Household items & cleaners
  • Diapers/baby wipes
  • Baby formula
  • Pet food

Clothing donations are not currently needed.
