Jury convicts Indianapolis man for dealing meth

An Indianapolis man was found guilty of dealing methamphetamine following a jury trial Tuesday.

Michael Wiederhold, 29, was convicted of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony, by a jury in Johnson County Superior Court 2 Tuesday. The jury deliberated for 10 minutes before reaching the guilty verdict, according to a news release from the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The charge stemmed from a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigation in March 2022 where an undercover detective witnessed Wiederhold deliver methamphetamine to another person. Deputy Prosecutor Megan Smither was grateful for the hard work done by the sheriff’s office in pursuing those who are dealing deadly substances in the county, she said in a statement.

“I’m grateful for the hard work done by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office to pursue those who are dealing deadly substances in our community,” said Deputy Prosecutor Megan Smither.

The Level 2 felony conviction will guarantee Wiederhold will “spend the better part” of the next 20 years in prison, preventing him from selling drugs in the community, Johnson County Prosecutor Lance Hamner said in a statement. Wiederhold faces a sentence of between 10 to 30 years in prison.

“I am very pleased to see this office take another Marion County criminal off of our Johnson County streets and deposit him in an Indiana prison. This is how it’s done,” Hamner said.
