Doyle wins Bargersville clerk-treasurer primary

Bargersville voters opted for challenger Dustin Doyle in the Republican primary for clerk-treasurer.

Doyle collected 65% of the vote, unseating two-term incumbent Nancy Kehl. Doyle is looking to build on his experience in city government. He served on the town council from 2019 to 2022 and is on the town’s redevelopment commission.

He will move on to the general election on Nov. 7. No Democrats have filed to run for office at this time, though the local party still has an opportunity to slate a candidate.

Doyle said he originally left his seat on the town council late last year in order to be more involved with his children, who are student-athletes. With a role as clerk-treasurer, he said he can do most of his work during the daytime, not missing as many sporting events.

As the owner of Doyle Investment Company, Doyle has experience in the financial sector, helping clients with 401k plans and retirement. If elected, Doyle said he’ll work with each town department to determine their priorities and budget for them. He also wants to put cash from town departments into laddered accounts that accumulate value from interest rates, he said.

If elected in November, one of his biggest budget priorities will be to expand utilities in anticipation of future population growth. In particular, he wants the town to invest in a new sewer plant and said he anticipates new water towers will be required in the years to come.
