POURS IN THE PARK, noon-4 p.m. May 13, Johnson County Park, 7248 S. Picnic Dr., Nineveh

Enjoy the best from area breweries, wineries and distilleries, all surrounded by the beautiful natural surroundings of southern Johnson County. The second annual event hosted by the Johnson County Parks and Recreation features offerings from 10 different producers, where attendees can get unlimited tastings of local beer, wine and spirits.

In between tastings, grooves to live music from the Tim Neuman (Duo) and purchase food from a variety of area food trucks. People can also play outdoor games, including corn hold, giant Connect Four, giant Jenga and more. An axe-throwing trailer will be on site for the more adventurous. Tickets can be purchased in advance through Friday at jocoparks.com or poursinthepark.com, or at the gate if still available.

TOUCH A TRUCK, 9 a.m.-noon May 13, Greenwood Department of Public Works, 367 S. Washington St.

Few things inspire awe in kids (of all ages) than some heavy duty machinery. Greenwood offers a unique opportunity to get up close to some of the city’s most imposing vehicles, where kids can climb in and imagine they’re piloting everything from fire trucks to construction machines to snow plows.

Hosted by Greenwood Parks and Recreation, the event costs $2 per child.
