Girls tennis

Franklin, Roncalli advance to final

Franklin and Roncalli each posted 5-0 victories Tuesday in the semifinal round of the Center Grove Regional.

Against Perry Meridian, the No. 8 Grizzly Cubs won all of their matches in straight sets. Rylie Wilkison (6-3, 6-1), Chelsie Rayl (6-1, 6-1) and Emma Williams (6-2, 6-1) swept the singles points, while Ailyn Hendricks and Marnie Moore were a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 1 doubles and the No. 2 duo of Kate Pinnick and Kennedy Urban claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Rebecca Zakrowski, Lily Rutherford and Kate Rittenhouse were all straight-set singles winners for the Royals against Shelbyville. Elsie Kerr and Morgan Vaught prevailed in three sets at first doubles, and Thalia Guzman and Evie Eble took their match at No. 2 doubles in straight sets.

The title match will be played today at 4:30 p.m.

Softball

Braves move into title game

Indian Creek made one third-inning run stand up in a 1-0 victory over West Vigo in a semifinal game at the Class 3A Northview Sectional on Tuesday. The Braves (9-14) will play Edgewood in the championship game today at 5:30 p.m.

Royals dominate Warriors

Class 4A No. 1 Roncalli advanced to the title game of the Class 4A Southport Sectional with a 11-0 triumph over Warren Central. The Royals (27-3-1) did not allow a hit in the win.

Boys golf

Lancers defeat Twisters

Max Blandford’s 40 paced Edinburgh on the way to a 189-218 victory over Oldenburg Academy. Rounding out the scoring for the Lancers were Mason Calhoun (49), Gabe Bennett (49) and Wyatt Burton (51).
