Poem to veterans this Memorial Day

In Memorial

When the haze has lifted on all the rows of white crosses,

One wonders what the world would have been without their losses;

Names are printed with the date,

Who would they have been if not for their fate?

From wars of the past, one wonders when will be the last?

They are buried in lands faraway,

In oceans where they lay,

In Flanders Field, The Ardennes and Calais,

St. James and many more far far away,

Other places too, Manila and islands too numerous to name

Korea and Vietnam, what a shame!

The unknown who we cherish so,

Guards march back and forth in rain and snow,

True heroes one and all, men of valor, short and tall.

We Miss You All!
