Stones Crossing, Saddle Club road roundabout opens Friday evening

The roundabout at the intersection of Stones Crossing Road and Saddle Club Road is expected to open by the Friday evening commute, weather permitting.

Road construction at the intersection is nearing substantial completion, with the remaining parts of the project to be completed under traffic. The contractor still has to place sod and permanent pavement markings in the intersection. This work is expected to place over the next couple of days, said Brad Stahley, with Crossroads Engineers, the firm working with Johnson County Highway Department on the project.

With work continuing, electronic message boards will remain in place on adjacent roads approaching the intersection. They will display the following messages: “New traffic pattern” and “Reduce speed,” according to Crossroads Engineers.

The intersection has been constructed into a new single-lane modern roundabout, which is hoped to speed up traffic and ease congestion at the intersection near several Center Grove schools.
