Dana Bollinger, 77, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023, in Seymour, where she was a longtime resident. Dana was a loving wife, mother, Nana, and friend to all who knew her. Dana enjoyed traveling with her husband, family, and friends. She loved reading, crosswords, her church, bocce ball, golf, cards, her two dogs, Chloe and Shelby, and giving all of her time to everyone she knew. Her legacy will live on in all those that she touched.

She was born June 18, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, to John and Betty Cook Owens. She married Thomas Richard Bollinger on July 16, 1966, in Seymour, and they spent 57 years of marriage together creating lasting memories with their children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Tom Bollinger of Seymour; two daughters, Amy L. Rupp of Franklin, and Carolyn Lindsey (Matt) O’Haver of Franklin; son, Richard Todd (Kandi) Bollinger of Medora; sister, Cindy L. Owens of Sarasota, FL; and seven grandchildren, Dani Lynn, Alex, Kyle (Nicki), Jacob, Caleb, Olivia, and Kyden. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Owens, and her younger sister, Donna L. Wyatt.

Dana was a graduate of Seymour High School Class of 1964. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.

She was a speech and hearing pathologist for many years, working in the Perry Township, Seymour, and Brownstown school systems.

Dana was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Seymour, where she served as Deacon and a member of the choir. Dana and Tom were also youth group leaders at the church.

Many knew Dana as a longtime volunteer to the community. She was a member of the board of directors of the Schneck Hospital Foundation and served as chairman of the Special Gifts Committee. Additionally, in 1980, Dana was the winner of the Seymour Girls Club Distinguished Service Award. Dana joined the girls club when she was six years old and had taught classes there while she was in high school. In January 1976, she was elected to the board of directors and served as president for 1977 and 1978. She also served on the budget and finance committee, program activities committee, and as the regional vice chairperson for the Midwest region as a member of the National Girls Club Board. Dana was also proud to serve as co-chair of the capital campaign for the local Girl’s Inc. that supported the development of their new facility. Dana was a past board member of the Jackson County Community Foundation. She also loved her memberships in the All Thumbs Garden Club and Tri Kappa Philanthropic Sorority.

She and her husband, Tom, were named Seymour Citizens of the Year in 2006 by the Seymour Chamber of Commerce.

Dana, along with Tom, is also a member of the Indiana University President’s Circle.

Visitation will take place from 4-8PM, Thursday, August 10, at Voss & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 316 N. Chestnut Street. Following a visitation from 10-11AM, Friday, August 11, Rev. Scott Hookey will officiate a funeral service at the First Presbyterian Church of Seymour, 301 N. Walnut Street. She will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery.
