Joseph H. Daming

BARGERSVILLE, IN.

Bargersville, Indiana, lost a hometown hero when Joseph H. Daming, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, godfather and friend, passed away on February 29, 2024, at the age of 47. Born on January 1, 1977, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Joe grew up surrounded by the love of his family and community.

He graduated from Center Grove High School and pursued his passion for mechanics at Lincoln Technical Institute, specializing in Diesel Mechanics.

Joe’s heart belonged to his high school sweetheart, Jenny Mears, whom he married and with whom he built a beautiful family and life. Together, they shared the joy of raising their three children, Shalee Bradley (Kaleb), Austin, and Audrey, and cherished every moment spent with their granddaughter, Emersyn Jo.

Known for his unwavering dedication to his passions, Joe found immense joy in non-wing sprint car racing. As the proud owner of 5T Racing Team, he reveled in the thrill of victory in the winner’s circle. He was also a dedicated Trojans football fan, never missing a Friday night game, and a Purdue sports fan, never missing a basketball game on TV.

From a young age, Joe had a knack for getting his hands dirty, whether it was racing through dirt on dirt-bikes and ATVs, or later, pursuing a career as a self-employed excavator. His love for the outdoors and hard work was evident in everything he did.

Joe’s kindness and generosity, as well as his witty sense of humor, knew no bounds. He was known as a “HandyMan Extraordinaire” and was always there to lend a helping hand or offer sage advice to anyone in need. He was the “Gatekeeper of 350 North”, as his barn was a gathering place for friends and family alike, where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and memories were made.

Joe is survived by his wife and children, his three dogs – Clyde, Brian, and Jim, as well as his mother, Linda, and his two sisters, Rebecca Connor (Michael) and Teresa Hogue (Christopher). Joe also leaves behind countless friends who considered him family. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Robert Daming.

His legacy of love, generosity, and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Joe’s Barn. All are welcome after 4:00pm.

Memorial contributions can be made in Joe’s name to the Josh L. Burton Memorial Fund at the Peoples State Bank, Bloomington, Indiana, or through Venmo at @JoshBurtonRacing.
