‘Aggressive’ bull put down after escape in Bargersville

A bull was put down by Bargersville Police after escaping from its owner and going viral on Facebook over the weekend.

The bull had been on the run for several hours after escaping from its owner. First reports of its escape on social media came in Saturday evening, quickly going viral on Center Grove-area and Bargersville Facebook groups.

Online posters updated the community on the bull’s path. One woman reported seeing it near Saddle Club Road, another posted a photo of the bull in her backyard saying “you can’t make this stuff up.”

The bull was eventually found in a yard along West Smokey Row Road, east of Mullinix Road. Bargersville Police were called to the scene sometime between 9:30 to 10 a.m. Sunday, staying there for about 20 to 30 minutes, said Officer Klint Brown, a department spokesperson.

Police call records indicate the call came at 9:45 a.m. from a homeowner along the 5000 block of W. Smokey Row Road.

The bull was acting “aggressive” and charging toward people, Brown said. The owner arrived on the scene and told officers they did not have the means to bring the animal back under control. They then asked for officers to put the bull down for them, he said.

The owner was responsible for removing the animal from the property, he said.
