Franklin’s Davis headlines boys basketball All-State honorees

Center Grove coach Zach Hahn called Franklin senior guard Micah Davis “probably the best playmaker in the state” after the two county rivals met in a regional game earlier this month.

On Friday, the rest of the state’s coaches decided that Davis is one of the best players, period.

Davis, who averaged 25.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists while leading the Grizzly Cubs to a second Class 4A sectional title in three years, was selected to the IBCA’s Supreme 15 team, which groups the top 15 seniors in Indiana regardless of school size.

Two others from Johnson County who were leading scorers on semistate teams picked up Senior All-State accolades. Center Grove guard Joey Schmitz was among the 15 players named to the large school team, while Greenwood Christian’s Max Booher earned a spot on the small school squad.

Seven local players were honorable mention choices: Center Grove seniors Jalen Bundy and Will Spellman, Roncalli senior Drew Kegerreis, Indian Creek junior Adam Crouch, Whiteland junior Ethan Edwards, Franklin junior Kolt Nelson and Edinburgh junior Connor Ramey.
