With agricultural activity increasing, officials are urging motorists and farmers to prioritize safety on rural roads. To enhance road safety during this critical period, the Bargersville Fire Department offered the following tips:
- Stay Alert: Remain attentive to surroundings, especially on rural roads where farm equipment is common.
- Exercise Patience: Expect delays and slower speeds when encountering farm equipment. Refrain from tailgating or attempting risky maneuvers to overtake slow-moving vehicles.
- Pass Safely: Only pass farm machinery when it is safe and legal to do so. Ensure proper visibility and use signals to indicate intentions.
- Share the Road: Respect the right of farmers to utilize roadways for agricultural purposes. Exercise mutual courtesy and understanding between motorists and agricultural workers.
- Stay Informed: Pay attention to warning signs and flaggers directing traffic around farm operations. Follow detours and alternative routes as advised.
