Roger Lee Tearman

INDIANAPOLIS

Roger Lee Tearman, aged 71, passed away after an illness on March 21, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. Roger was born on July 9, 1952, in Franklin, Indiana, to Delmar R. Tearman and Betty J. (Rairdon) Limp, who preceded him in death. Roger is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen A. (Summers) Tearman, his daughter, Joni (Tearman) Fraser, son-in-law Kip Fraser, granddaughters Syvannah and Makayla Fraser, of Grand Junction, Colorado.

Roger is also survived by sister Nancy (Dana) Paul, brothers Tracy Tearman and Tim (Pam) Limp, and sister Kathy (Limp) Mathena, along with many nieces and nephews. Sister Teresa Tearman and brother Jeff Limp preceded Roger in death.

Roger was a graduate of Franklin Community High School, where he was a member of the undefeated, championship football team in 1969. Roger would regale friends with stories of playing a split-six defense at midfield in the first quarter. His love of sports did not end there. Over the years, softball and motorcycle rides captivated him, as did the pursuit of the perfectly struck golf shot. Roger knew from sports and his upbringing that hard work brings its own rewards. He worked tirelessly for his family for decades.

There were no more important teammates to Roger than his family and friends. Always ready to pitch in to cut a lawn or help with a home renovation, Roger was constantly present for his friends and family. He also looked forward to lunches with his Grimmer Schmidt friends.

Visitation for family and friends, and others will be Saturday, June 29th, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. to reminisce and honor Roger’s life and his impact at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with a Celebration of Roger’s life service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Father Joseph Newton will officiate.
