Trojans squeak past Arabians

Brynn Meyer went 4 for 4 and scored on Sydney Herrmann’s walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Class 4A No. 2 Center Grove to a 7-6 triumph over Pendleton Heights on Friday. Meyer and Hannah Habertstroh each drove in two runs for the Trojans (3-2), while Brooklyn Groppel homered and Riley Henson struck out five over two innings of shutout relief to secure the win.

Warriors crush Scottsburg

Drew Helton went 3 for 3 and drove in four runs as Whiteland coasted to an 11-1 home win over Scottsburg in its season opener on Friday. Maalik Perkins added two hits and three RBIs for the Warriors, who also got five innings of two-hit ball from pitchers Helton and Peyton Dickens.

Girls tennis

Lancers edged by Cubs

Edinburgh fell just short in its season-opening match, dropping a 3-2 decision to Madison on Friday. Jessica Walsh and Izzy Richardson were straight-set winners in the top two singles positions for the Lancers.

Baseball splits pair at Manchester

Franklin College won the front half of its Friday doubleheader at Manchester, 8-5, before taking a 14-4 defeat in the nightcap. Sean Sullivan and A Wallace each had a home run and two RBIs in the first game for the Grizzlies (12-7, 3-3 HCAC), while A.J. Sanders went 4 for 5 in the win.
