Richard Hommell, age 79, passed away on March 28, 2024.
Richard loved NASCAR, IU Football and Basketball, Camping, Fishing, and the Outdoors, and all his pets, family and friends. He was very proud to be an Army Veteran having served during the Viet Nam Era but spending that time in Korea, and also serving over 30 years protecting the citizens in both New Whiteland and Franklin as a Police Officer. He will be honored for both on April 20, 2024 at 3:00p.m. at the Franklin American Legion Post #205 at a Celebration of Life.
Richard is survived by his wife, Carol S. Hommell, of North Fort Myers, FL., daughter, Rachelle King, of Greenwood, IN, brother, Phillip Hommell, of Sarasota, FL., and sister, Vicky Hommel Jones, of Columbus, IN., grand children; Adam Bernett Jr. (Chelsea), Morgan Austin (Zach), Courtney Bernett (Fiancé, Cam Haltom), Dylan Higdon, and Ryan King. Great grandchildren; Blakely Bernett, Dawsyn Bernett, Gentry Austin, Walker Austin, and Maeve Haltom and numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Carl Hommel and Mary Bingham Hommel, sisters, Judy Linville and Bernice Facemire and brothers, Larry Hommel and Bill Hommel.
