Travis Thompson Shepherd

FRANKLIN

Travis Thompson Shepherd, 80 of Franklin, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

He was born on December 14, 1943 in Russell Springs, Kentucky to Agnes Mae (Anderson) Shepherd and James Rollin Shepherd. Travis married Sandra Lee “Sandy” (Souza) Shepherd on July 10, 1965. She lovingly survives. He is also survived by their children, Travis Thompson Shepherd, II (Amy) of Franklin; Tracy Lee Joniec (Scott) of Parrish, Florida and Trent Michael Shepherd (Brooke) of Franklin; grandchildren, Travis Shepherd, III (Hollis), Adam Shepherd (Caitlyn), and Mackenzie Shepherd; Andrew Keller, Ava Joniec and Lani Joniec; and Christopher Wilson, Logan Shepherd and Emily Shepherd and great grandchild, Asher Shepherd. Also surviving are siblings, Phyllis Deckard, Eleanor Rodgers, Barbara Olson (Earl), Becky Horton (Mark), Sharon McMahon (Jack), Ron Shepherd and Glen Shepherd and brother-in-law, Dan Jackson. He was preceded in passing by his parents, and sisters, Vivian Johnson, Judy Shepherd and Pat Jackson and brother-in-laws, Robert Deckard and Marvin Rodgers.

He attended Clark Elementary and Whiteland High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Travis was an accomplished Carpenter.

He was a member of the Franklin Church of the Nazarene. He was also a former mason. Travis was a member of the Ace Coon Club, the Indianapolis Racing Pigeon Club and the American Standard Bred Association. He enjoyed horseback riding and coon hunting, as well as camping. Travis loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Franklin Church of the Nazarene, 140 Branigin Road, Franklin, Indiana 46131 with a funeral service beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Rev. Jack McMahon will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
