Local student awarded scholarship

Alliance of Indiana Rural Water Association recognizes outstanding students through its scholarship program.

Among this year’s recipients is Isabelle Pulley, who will attend IU and major in Law and Public Policy. Her father, Kevin Pulley, works for the Town of Franklin.

Recipients must be dependents of an Alliance voting member, which are small and large water and wastewater utilities located throughout the state of Indiana.

The Alliance puts on a Clay Shoot and Golf Outing for the Scholarship Program to raise these funds. The Alliance has awarded four individuals a $2,000 scholarship for their secondary education endeavors in fall of 2024.

Family awards grant to Roncalli teacher

Roncalli architecture and engineering teacher Frank Mullen was awarded the Lane Dunscomb Teacher Creativity Grant. The grant is awarded to a teacher or department with the hope and intent that it assists them in their ability to provide dynamic, unique learning experiences for their students.

Lane Dunscomb was a much-loved, energetic third-grade boy who loved sports, learning and being with people. He never met a person he could not charm. Lane fought Ewing’s sarcoma for eighteen months before passing away in April 2015. This grant is an opportunity provided by his parents, Jennifer and Jim Dunscomb, as a means to carry on his legacy as Lane would have been a member of the Roncalli Class of 2024.

Mullen will use the grant to purchase a carbon fiber 3D printer for his classroom.
