Here’s what’s going on with I-69 the week of April 30

Work on the Interstate 69 Finish Line Project continues this week, with lane restrictions and closures planned.

In Marion County, nightly double-lane closures and intermittent 20-minute stoppages are expected at various locations on Interstate 465 eastbound and westbound between Interstate 65 and Interstate 70 through Friday. Closures and stoppages are expected between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for pavement upgrades, overhead sign structure installation and grading activities, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation project update.

Drivers should expect a single-lane closure and 20-minute stoppages on SR 37 northbound and southbound at Southport Road on Wednesday and Thursday evenings between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for overhead sign installation, according to INDOT.

Next week, two lanes of I-465 are expected to close between I-65 and I-70 for pavement upgrades, dirt movement, grading activities and overhead sign structure installation. These closures will begin at 9 p.m. May 10, and both lanes will reopen by 4 a.m. May 13, according to INDOT.

Five ramps will also be closed from 9 p.m. May 10 to 4 a.m. May 13: I-70 eastbound/westbound to I-465 southbound, State Road 67/Kentucky Avenue to I-465 eastbound, Mann Road to I-465 eastbound, State Rpad 37/Harding Street to I-465 eastbound and U.S. 31/East Street to/from I-465 eastbound, INDOT Officials say

The southbound U.S. 31/East Street ramp to I-465 westbound will continue to be closed into summer, officials said.

In Morgan County, motorists should expect lane closures and 20-minute stoppages at the Henderson Ford Road I-69 interchange and south of the interchange between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. from now through Friday for mobile pavement striping operations. Northbound I-69 has a two-mile single-lane condition starting just north of Stotts Creek into May, and there may be intermittent lane closures for equipment movement, according to INDOT.

Although outside the scope of the I-69 project, the State Road 144 bridge over the White River will be restricted to one lane starting Monday. More information about this work will be published in Saturday’s Daily Journal.

As for Johnson County, work that began last week is continuing.

Drivers should expect daytime single-lane closures on eastbound and westbound Smith Valley Road between State Road 37 and Mullinix Road through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for minor concrete patching and concrete staining work. They should also expect daytime eastbound and westbound single-lane closures on eastbound and westbound State Road 144 between Old State 37 and Eastern Service Road for the same type of work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. from now through Friday, according to INDOT.

There will be active flagging crews on the Eastern and Western Service roads between County Line Road and State Road 144 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. from now through Friday to install permanent right-of-way markers, INDOT officials say.

All road work is weather-dependent and could be delayed due to inclement weather.
