Lancers get walk-off win

Jared Myers scored the winning run on a throwing error and Edinburgh earned a 7-6 victory over Southwestern on Wednesday. Jared Myers and Avynn Whitaker each had three hits for the Lancers (10-5-1, 4-3 Mid-Hoosier), while Austin Brockman drove in a pair of runs.

Greenwood loses against Mooresville

Despite home runs from Cade Kelly and Landen Smith, Greenwood took a 9-6 home loss against Class 4A No. 4 Mooresville. Eli Mason added two hits and two RBIs for the Woodmen (6-10, 4-4 Mid-State).

Softball

Grizzly Cubs fall to Artesians

Aubrey Leugers hit a home run for the second straight night, but Franklin suffered an 8-3 setback against Martinsville on Wednesday. Adeline Blackwell and Annabelle Richter each added a pair of hits for the Grizzy Cubs (10-10, 4-6 Mid-State).

Woodmen edged by Pioneers

Greenwood suffered a 6-4 home loss to Class 4A No. 5 Mooresville. Lillian Disney, Nevaeh Elliott and Breanna Pierce drove in runs for the Woodmen (9-7, 3-5 Mid-State).

Whiteland suffers road loss

Whiteland lost at Decatur Central, 8-4. Kiley Sullivan went 3 for 4 and scored twice for the Warriors (9-8, 4-6 Mid-State), while Gracee Whitaker had two hits and an RBI.

Edinburgh beaten by Hauser

Hauser defeated rival Edinburgh, 13-3. Alix Streeval and Kyah Streeval each had two hits and an RBI for the Lancers (3-10, 2-4 Mid-Hoosier).

Boys golf

Trojans get pair of victories

Center Grove got a 35 from medalist Noah Parsetich and a team score of 146 on the way to a win over Columbus North (152) and Franklin (160) at Harrison Lake on Wednesday. Abe Botkin led the Grizzly Cubs with a 37.

The Trojans also got a 153-180 victory over Roncalli, with Louie Teed firing a 36.

Girls tennis

Warriors edged by Falcons

Whiteland suffered a 3-2 setback against Perry Meridian on Wednesday. Candace Stephenson was a three-set winner at No. 1 singles for the Warriors (8-11), while Cathy Nguyen and Kinsey Shipp won in straight sets at first doubles.

Miscellany

Streeval earns IBCA scholarship

Edinburgh’s Kyah Streeval was one of 40 seniors statewide to be awarded a $500 scholarship from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday. Streeval was a recipient of one of 34 Crawley Scholarships.

Franklin College

Men’s tennis advances to HCAC semis

Franklin College opened postseason play Wednesday with a 5-1 win at Hanover in an HCAC quarterfinal. The Grizzlies swept the three doubles matches, with Dustin Garrison and Ezra Schwier winning at No. 1, Nathan Jarboe and Shay Kyser at No. 2 and Marcus Cox and Lucas Densford at No. 3. Singles victories by Jarboe and Jaden Wells clinched the match.

The Grizzlies will play a semifinal match against top-seeded Rose-Hulman on Saturday.

Softball swept by Transylvania

After winning its first 14 HCAC games, Franklin College absorbed losses of 3-2 and 6-1 at No. 25 Transylvania on Wednesday. Eriana Wagner hit a home run in defeat for the Grizzlies (25-11, 14-2).
