ORIGINAL STORY

A tipped over semi-trailer is causing delays for drivers on southbound U.S. 31 in Franklin.

Around 2:57 p.m Wednesday, a semi-trailer carrying steel tipped over while turning onto Morton Street/U.S. 31 southbound at Commerce Drive. There was a slight fuel leak following the crash, but it has since been contained, said Kirby Cochran, Franklin police chief.

No injuries were reported in the single-vehicle crash. The driver is up and walking around, Cochran said.

The right two lanes of U.S. 31 southbound are blocked near the incident. Traffic is also backing up onto Commerce Drive to the east of the intersection, according to social media reports.

Cochran asks the public to be patient as crews work to clear the roadway, he said.
