Harold Edmund Miller, JR died May 2nd, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was visiting friends.

JR was born May 1st, 1941, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, the son of Harold and Viola Miller. The family managed a sheep farm in Ladoga, Indiana. JR was a graduate of Ladoga High School in 1959. He married Diane Elizabeth Otten on July 3, 1965, and they remained faithfully committed to each other for 58 years. They had 2 children, Creighton Miller, of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Ash Miller (wife Carol), of Beavercreek, Ohio. They had 2 grandchildren from their son Ash; Allyson Miller and Victoria Miller. He was the older brother to Edwin (Ed) Wayne Miller (wife Mary Ann and daughter Brittney Banks).

JR received an Associate’s degree from Purdue University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He began his career as a hospital administrator in LaGrange, KY and later at the Indiana Masonic Home Hospital in Franklin, IN. Then he worked for the Indiana State Department of Health as a Hospital Consultant for 31 years before retiring in 2008.

JR was a member of the Indiana Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and Dayton, and Masonic Lodges in Franklin, Indiana, and Dayton, Ohio, as well as the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and sharing his extraordinary curiosity of life. After retirement, he enjoyed living near his sons and grandchildren and the rich aviation history of the Dayton, Ohio area. He and wife Diane shared a strong faith in Christianity and remained active in church activities to include working in Billy Graham Crusades over the years and various missions activities.

A Memorial service will be held at Alpha Community Church, 806 Alpha Rd, Alpha, OH 45301 on Saturday, June 1st, 2024. Visitation at 11:00 AM with service at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan’s Purse with Franklin Graham or the Wounded Warrior Project.
