Janet L. Morris-McGinley

HAMILTON

Janet L. Morris-McGinley, a beacon of light and an amazing soul to all who knew her, passed away peacefully at 82 in her Hamilton, Indiana home on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Janet was born on December 20, 1941, in Franklin, Indiana to the late John and Esther Morris and married the love of her life, Ed McGinley, on July 4, 1989, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Janet lived life to the fullest, always marching to the beat of her own drum, embracing each moment as an adventure, and as a free spirit that inspired everyone around her. Her childhood was filled with laughter, curiosity, and a deep love for the world which continued into adulthood. Her thirst for knowledge was never-ending; she could always be found reading a new book or watching something educational. She was also a lover of all things nature and native American. She treasured her pets and was especially fond of birds and butterflies. She was the happiest spending time outdoors or with family and friends. Janet was known for sending hand-written cards to remind those close to her how much she cared; her signature stickers always added a special touch. She believed life was not meant to be observed but felt and experienced in every way. Her love for her Lord and Savior and her fearless approach to life was a true testament to all who knew her.

She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She taught others the importance of courage, kindness, and following one’s heart. Her zest for life was evident in everything she did and even in the fight against her illness until the very end. She is survived by her husband, Ed McGinley, daughter Tina, siblings Johnny and June, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and close friends who will forever cherish their time with her and the beautiful memories they created together. Her legacy is one of joy, resilience, and a reminder to live each day fully and freely.

A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at a later date; where friends and family will gather to share stories, laughter, and love exactly as she would have wanted. In place of flowers; the family asks you to honor Janet’s memory by doing something adventurous or kind in her name. If you choose to donate; please do so to your local Animal Shelter. She would have loved that!
