Letter: Pain management article spot on

To the editor:

Excellent article ("Pain medicine doesn’t have to be addicting," May 24).

This was so needed for everyone to understand the other side of this ongoing discussion.

Nicole Hussey did a great job and every word in it is truth. I can testify to this because I have been in chronic pain for almost four years after a very bad accident. Every day for me is finding ways to deal with and alleviate the pain that does not involve narcotics, and I am getting there, but it is a long road.

One thing I want to add is that it is not common for people in pain to transition to heroin if they are unable to get their pain medications. That is a huge fallacy pushed by the media.
