Cooking up a sweet, artsy fundraiser

Painters with a sweet tooth can indulge in both their loves at an upcoming event.

Central Nine Career Center is hosting a Cupcakes and Canvas event at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the school, 1999 U.S. 31 South, Greenwood.

Each participant will receive a cupcake made by students and will leave with landscape art they painted.

Tiffany Swopes, culinary teacher at the school, shares what you need to know about the event.

$25 per person

<strong>How do I register?</strong>

Call Central Nine Career Center and purchase a ticket over the phone by Oct. 5. The number is 317-888-4401.

<strong>What will happen at the event?</strong>

Guests will be guided through a painting lesson and will receive a gourmet cupcake made by our advanced culinary art students. Guests will be able to take his or her painting home at the end of the night.

<strong>How did you get the idea for the event?</strong>

I love to paint, and attending wine and canvas events has always been a hobby. So I decided to involve my students and utilize it as a fundraiser for our program.

It all goes back to the advanced culinary arts program fund to use for educational training.
