Letter: More liquor licenses aren’t needed

To the editor:

Just a brief comment about state lawmakers finding a way to issue more liquor licenses.

As a society I would think we should be trying to find a way to reduce the ways people can use alcohol. Are they saying for a few more tax dollars they don’t care that more homes could be wrecked or more people hurt or killed by drunk drivers. I don’t get it. The same tax dollars that they collect for the permits and tax, the same dollars are spent to treat alcoholism.

Let’s say a couple go to dinner and the driver has two drinks. Unless he walks to the restaurant he will be leaving in a car. When he leaves he will be somewhat impaired. Not legally drunk but not 100 percent.

I for one don’t want to meet him on the highway.
