Bargersville police search for truck that struck building

Bargersville police are searching for the driver of a semi-truck that struck its headquarters earlier this month.

Surveillance video from a nearby business captured a semi-truck drive into the Bargersville Police Department building on Baldwin Street about 3:35 a.m. March 9. The truck struck the building’s awning, and the driver then got out of the vehicle to check the damage and fix the side mirror before driving away, according to a Bargersville Police Department news release posted Friday.

The damage was just to the awning and not to the building, but it could cost thousands to fix, said Jeremy Roll, spokesperson for the department. The awning is still broken, though it has been more than week since the incident, he said.

The department took to social media Friday to ask the community for help in identifying the semi-truck from the footage. If anyone has information, they can contact the department by phone at 317-422-1222 or by email at zelliott@townofbargersville,org.

If the driver is found, the department plans to ask them to pay for the damages. They do not plan to propose any criminal charges, Roll said.
