Letter: Roll back tax cuts on wealthy to pay for roads

To the editor:

A front page article in the Johnson County Daily Journal on Feb. 3 (“Rough roads take a toll”) reports Gov. Eric Holcomb is looking for ideas on how to fund road repairs.

I suggest he start with rolling back some of the tax cut that was passed in 2013. The proposals noted in the article — gas tax, registration fee, electric vehicle fee and tolls — are all aimed at the middle and lower income population that can least afford a tax increase.

Paying the fair share of taxes is a patriotic duty and the upper income brackets can afford to give back the reductions they received since 2014 and support all Hoosiers road repairs.
