Kenneth “Reed” Young

FRANKLIN

Kenneth “Reed” Young passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, December 15th, 2017 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Franklin.

Reed was born on August 22nd, 1935 in Columbia, Kentucky to Kenneth Norman and Eliza Erma (McKinley) Young. He married Juwiona Dean (Kirby) on August 19th, 1961. She lovingly survives. He is also survived by two sons, Kenneth A. (Terri) Young and David M. (Patty) Young; five grandchildren, Kristen N. Young; Morgan A. Young; Mike Burton; Samantha Burton and Faith Burton; one brother, Condy Young, his dog, Bo and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents and one brother, Gene Allen Young.

He attended school in Adair County, Kentucky. Reed was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was employed by Arvin Industries in Franklin, retiring after forty-six years of service. After retirement, Reed worked for Bradley Chevrolet in Franklin for eighteen years.

He was a fifty-six year member of Turning Point Church in Franklin and a member of the Quarter Century Club at Arvin Automotive. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Reed was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Pastor Guy Langsdon and Charlie Evans will conduct a celebration of Reed’s life on Tuesday, December 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Monday, December 18th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
