Letter: Sunday alcohol sales have consequences

To the editor:

I am writing in regards to the recent bill that was signed for the sale of liquor on Sundays.

Will this new bill help Indiana out economically at all? In one way, it seems that there will be more sales due to the fact that Indiana can have another day to sell it. You would think that this would help the economy, but have the consequences really been considered?

Hundreds of people are killed each year due to alcohol. The county jails are overflowing with people. So why would our legislature and governor think that it would be wise to carry through on this bill?

Why don’t we reduce the selling of alcohol, which in turn, reduces the amount of deaths due to alcohol, puts less people in jails and in the end will help American families and Indiana’s economy.
