Center Grove area church vandalized

Police are investigating after a Center Grove area church was vandalized, with curse words, images and an apology from the vandal that hadn’t realized the building was a church.

Just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to Woodside Community Church, 1811 S. Morgantown Road, where someone had broken into the building.

Inside, they found someone had set off a fire extinguisher on the first floor, spraying a computer, television and other items.

And on the second floor, the vandal had painted curse words, references to marijuana, graphic images and the message “sorry, just realize this wuz a church” on walls, windows, a toilet and a mirror, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

Investigators found a cigarette butt and a burned can in the room and collected them as evidence. They also found a fingerprint, the report said.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.
