Warriors clinch Mid-State

Whiteland wrapped up at least a tie for the Mid-State Conference title with a 6-3 win at Mooresville on Wednesday.

Jimmy Gruss knocked in three runs and Alex Reed added a homer and two RBIs for the Warriors (14-9, 8-2), who can claim the outright league crown by winning either of its games with Martinsville next week.

Center Grove avenges defeat

After being shut down in a 3-2 loss to Pike on Tuesday, Center Grove got its offense back on track with a 17-4 rout on the back end of the home-and-home series Wednesday.

Bryce Eblin doubled and tripled for the Trojans (14-7, 8-4 MIC), who put together six-run innings in both the third and fourth innings to put the game out of reach and seal the win for hurler Brian Gaffney.

Grizzly Cubs finish sweep of Quakers

Izzy Harrison pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine as Franklin defeated Plainfield in five innings on Wednesday, 10-0. Baylee Parker and Rilee King each homered and had multiple hits for the Grizzly Cubs (6-12, 3-7 Mid-State), while Bostyn Parkhurst also had two hits.

Trojans blank Bloomington South

Sixth-ranked Center Grove rolled over Bloomington South, 5-0, on Wednesday.

Isabella Schoolcraft, Ellie Strube and Jillian Garrett lost a combined four games in sweeping the singles matches. Emily Hoy and Ashlee Fisk won in straight sets at No. 1 doubles, while Holyn Aukerman and Abby Hoard did the same at No. 2.

Grizzly Cubs split with Bull Dogs

Wins in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays helped Franklin’s girls pull out a 68-64 win over Columbus North on Wednesday. Kloie Doublin paced the Grizzly Cubs individually with first-place finishes in the 100, 200 and long jump, while Maggie Auger (400), Emma Beavins (300 hurdles) and Chloe Selking (800) also posted victories.

The Franklin boys came up short against the Bull Dogs, 74-58, despite individual wins from Nick Riggles (110 and 300 hurdles), David Purdy (400), Andrew Bixler (800), Will Tucker (1,600), Josh Campbell (3,200), Manny Cheam (shot put) and Matt Frazier (pole vault), as well as a first-place finish in the 4×400 relay.
