Grizzly Cubs top Hawks

Franklin pulled out a wild 10-6 victory over Decatur Central on Tuesday. Luke Miles and Blake Dicken had three hits apiece for the Grizzly Cubs (10-12, 5-6 Mid-State).

Trojans blank Lawrence North

Josh Johnson tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out 10, as Center Grove defeated Lawrence North on Tuesday, 3-0. The Trojans (16-9, 9-4 MIC) got two doubles from Mikey Wyman.

Softball

Woodmen blank Grizzly Cubs

Karlee Denham outdueled Izzy Harrison as Greenwood earned a 1-0 victory over Franklin on Tuesday in a rematch of the county championship game.

Harrison allowed three hits and struck out nine in defeat.

Trojans clinch MIC title

Abby Herbst struck out 10 in a four-hitter as Center Grove capped a perfect conference season with an 8-1 win over Lawrence North on Tuesday.

Jordyn Rudd homered for the Trojans (24-1, 7-0 MIC).

Braves edge Warriors

Kasey Wilhoit and Rachel Kyle homered to help Indian Creek edge Whiteland, 9-7, on Monday. Wilhoit’s two-run shot put the Braves up for good in the sixth inning.

Girls tennis

Warriors earn 15th win

Whiteland closed the regular season with a 4-1 win over University on Tuesday. The Warriors (15-4) got singles victories from Reese Johnson and Sophie Venter in the first and third spots.

The No. 1 doubles team of Bri Harwell and Sarah Scott won in straight sets, while the No. 2 tandem of Hannah Blum and Riley Burnside didn’t drop a game.

Braves top Spartans

Scott Russell led all players with a 39 and Chandler Donahue added a 42 as Indian Creek defeated Southwestern (Shelbyville), 178 to 199, on Monday.

Greenwood’s Young signs with ISU

Nick Young, a senior who owns the Greenwood school record in the discus and won county titles this spring in both the discus and shot put, signed a letter of intent to compete in both events at Indiana State next year.

Wrestling

Warriors hire new head coach

Anthony Meister, a 2007 Whiteland graduate, was approved Tuesday night as the new head wrestling coach at his alma mater. Meister, who was a state qualifier in 2005, has most recently been serving as an assistant coach at Columbus North.
