SHELBYVILLE
Charles E. Rairdon, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away September 29, 2018 at MHP Medical Center.
Born July 5, 1935 in Ninevah, he was the son of Noble Rairdon and Gladys (Coy) Rairdon, and was
raised by his aunt and uncle Charlie Catlett and Ina Rairdon Catlett. He married Ruth (Nalley) Rairdon
on July 29, 1969 and she survives.
Other survivors include 4 daughters- Charlotte Bryzek of Shelbyville, Carla Linville Hendricks of Shelbyville,
Vickie Berry of Indianapolis, Rita Holt of Shelbyville; 2 sons- Charles Rairdon (wife Diana) of Trafalgar,
Petter Gulbrandsen (wife Linda) of Oslo, Norway; 15 grandchildren- Rachel, Zachary, Nicholas, Rebecca,
Holli, Ryan, Jeffrey, Christopher, Christina, Chad, Kaitlin, James, Dennis, Sebastian, Josefine; and 11
great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, a daughter Connie Kirby,
grandson Eric Kirby, and his aunt and uncle who raised him.
Mr. Rairdon had lived in this area for 25 years, after moving from Franklin. He was a warehouse handler at
Knauf Fiber Glass for 21 years, retiring in 2005. He graduated from Franklin High School and was a member of
American Legion Post #70, and a former member of Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge, and Norristown Farmers
Masonic Lodge. He was a US Army veteran.
Charles enjoyed watching sports on TV, collecting coins, spending play time with his grandchildren, and his
dog Teddy.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road,
will Pastor Andy Kinsey officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, October 3,2018
from 4:00 until 8:00 pm. Burial will be in Ninevah Cemetery in Ninevah, Indiana. Military rites will be conducted
by a local veterans organization.
